A Little Note

It has been soooo long since the last time I opened this noisy laptop just to go and write something, but this time I just thought I need to write something here, though not sure if anyone’s going to have time to read all this but I believe my future self will happen to stumble here again and do so.

Just a couple weeks ago, I randomly chatted with a good girl friend about just some twenty something women obsessions to get married in another two or three years coming. I joked to her that I planned to get married on 2017 (where everyone knows I clearly, do not have any “calon” at the moment LOL). She joked back to remind me that I did not have much time since 2017 is just 9 months away from now, I laughed and said back to her, “Oh dear, you don’t know what can happen in a year, or a month, not even a day!”, which at that time, little did I know that I was so going to eat my own words.

The next day, I received a text message from Papa telling that my bro has fallen sick with a pretty severe disease which came to be a very big surprise for me. Now listen, girl. Lesson number one: you never know what can happen in the future, anything can happen anytime. You roger that?

So I called home and trying to understand what had been happening to have caused that to happen. Well, long story short, how it happened was not any coincidence for my bro has been getting some symptoms to the disease and he just ignored it without telling any of the family members, and also because of some misfortunes that also have caused the disease to occur.

My mom was so heartbroken seeing her son suffering, well which mom wouldn’t, right? And seeing Mom suffering like that was not an easy scene to watch for me too. Though I knew I didn’t suffer as much as my parents did, but my heart also broke for my bro. So again I was reminded, though we can be selfish about our own body and what we wanted to do with it, at least consider other people’s feeling too. Take care of your own body and health, because when you got sick, you don’t suffer alone, other people who care for you suffer too. And you know that when you love someone, you’ll never want to see them suffer, never to mention suffering because of you; that’s the last thing that will ever come to your mind.

The easiest question to answer was “Did any of us ever wanted this to happen?” because the ultimate answer will of course be, no. No one has ever expected bad things to happen in their lives, but another easy question was “Do we have the power to say no to misfortunes that could happen?” apparently we don’t.

Now that we know we actually do not have that power to decline bad things from happening, all we got to do is just deal with it! Though of course, it’s always easier said than done. But the thing I really wish to share was that I was truly feeling blessed that I have an awesome God by my side, giving me strength and hope to get through all these. And I can’t even express how grateful I am knowing that my family also knows God and they too rest in God’s arms because we all believed that there must be something good in every situation, though we still have to remember, what we thought is good for us is not always what’s best. But I chose to believe that He is in charge of everything until the tiniest one and it’s good to know that no matter what I will be going through, there is always Him to back me up.

I think the best thing in the world does not always mean to never experience bad things in life. What I really consider far more precious is that feeling when you know that even though through bad times, tears or pains, He is always there to give you strength to get through any kind of things and where hope and peace inside you are always present.

Ten Things

I was to call myself a blogger when my good friend, Jane, reminded me that I never even posted any blog posts anymore LOL. It's not that I lost interest in blogging but I just thought nothing was really blog-worthy about my life these days. I actually planned to make this post long time ago but I was just too unmotivated, but this time I finally managed to "force" myself LOL.

Anyway, since the last time I blogged was on the new year's, now let me update you guys with some random life updates and what's been happening, also a few of my favorite's things lately:

1. Since January, there is this place where me and my friends usually go on weekends just to spend time and casually hang out: The Bunker. What I love about this place is that we can spend time playing board games, instead of just hanging out and everybody's busy playing with their phones and do nothing. The rate of the board game rental is IDR 15K/person for each hour. I went here literally every week in January!

2. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you my new favorite TV series EVER: Reply 1988. I am not really into TV series who only tell stories about nothing but cheesy love lines between two teenagers but this one is a mixed of family matters, friendship, first loves, this is about everything in life. The characters are so "human" that you'll feel like you can relate to what's been happening inside the story line. It's not like we can actually fall in love with crazily-good-looking-aliens in real life, is it? PS. You'll smile, laugh and cry together with the people in these series, yes it is THAT good.

3. Went on a three-days short trip to Kuala Lumpur with Mom and Sis and the things we did were.. walking, eating and shopping. It was the time for CNY preparation yet we all didn't get to buy any clothes yet, and Mom kindly volunteer to bring us shopping so I just couldn't afford to say no!

4. After 20 months, I finally moved out of my old dormitory to a new small but nice house shared with other two friends. By moving out to a new house, that also means.. new room! I can't tell how I was excited with my this new room since I got to decorate it the way I liked and now it's soooooo cozy I freakin' love! I'll probably go making a room tour post one day if I just get the motivation to #fingercrossed.

5. Now if you're asking why I was moving to a new place, that is because.. we're also moving to a new office building! The new office was really cool-looking, my boss was probably aiming for the Pinterest-like office that will make anyone who's looking jealous and wish to work here. Good environment = happy staff = well money making company, is it not?

6. I dyed my hair, again. Using the shampoo-like hair-dye, again. And I was happy because this time this hair surely gets a lot of compliment saying it suited me :)

7. Thai tea never really got into my liking but Dum-Dum definitely got me! This local Thai tea shop surely has the best Thai tea in town, approved by many of my friends who tried them out because of my recommendation LOL. If you're a fan of milk tea then you should really try this one out, but watch out for the sugar high, don't say I didn't warn you!

8. Chinese New Year is definitely one of my favorite moments of the year. Last time we went to Bali, and this year we got back to our hometown and finally also went to Danau Toba again! It surely was a great time spent with family (including nephew!) until the day I fell sick because of exhaustion. Should have predicted that before booking super late flight just because of the cheaper price.

9. Bandung weekend getaway! On Valentine's day, us the "singles" of the office planned our own Valentine's by spending the weekend at Bandung just for some culinary trip and also of course, the fun! By the way, we stayed in this really small but nice hotel called The Summerbirds Bed and Brasserie. The place was so Instagram-worthy!

10. Made my first ever terrarium bowl! I really thought it wasn't too difficult and I was crazily excited before starting doing it, but when I really did, gosh it's so freaking hard! Now I just hoped that the plants won't die too soon.

These past two months have been amazing and I thought it couldn't be any better to start the year. Of course there are some bad things happening but comparing to the goodness, they surely are nothing big. I'm also glad that I got to meet a lot of friends and spend time with them, also excited for some future plans that we will be working on together. Let's work out our best and make it work!

Now Mama Jane, can I earn my "blogger" title back? :))
