My First Pregnancy Journal

As what I have mentioned on my previous post, by the time I was typing this, I was currently pregnant with my first baby. Since I am already on my maternity leave period and I got quite some time in my hand, I thought why not make a blog post for myself to cherish in the future. I'll try to write this in chronological order and hopefully I'll be able to do it well (still found it awkward writing on the blog after so long).

November 14, 2019 - The Discovery
I'd been telling W that I was not really feeling like my usual body and he was quite sure that I was carrying a baby already. I wasn't really sure about it, or maybe it was just me being not quite sure about my ability of raising a kid. He was really excited about getting the test pack(s) the night before and he usually never woke up that early but that morning he rushed to the toilet early in the morning while I was getting ready for work just to find out LOL. And for sure, he was excited to know the result.

Bought a cheap and a more expensive one, but apparently we didn't need two to be sure :))

November 14, 2019 (Still) - 5W2D
Decided to go see the doctor right away. We were so clueless that we didn't ask a thing to the doctor, we just nodded to everything he said (he didn't even say much LOL), what a good purpose of 300,000 worth of doctor fee. All I remembered was the doctor said to take it easy, since pregnancy is not a disease. There's no need to over sweat things. "You can eat anything, as long as it's healthy", LOL that's what he said. Just like that, I found out that I was already 5 weeks pregnant (a month has passed before we even knew) and by this time the biggest change that I felt on my body was sore breasts. No other complaints.

On the last check up, the doctor told us to come again in the next two weeks, so we did. I threw up for the very first time since the pregnancy. But after throwing up it felt a lot better. We did listen to the baby's heart beat for the first time. W doubted it was really the baby's, he said the doctor probably let us listen to my heart beat instead LOL. We had another late baso supper that night after the check up, I needed it to replace the dinner that I wasted before the check up :P

December 19, 2019 - 10W0D
We queued for 3 hours that day for the appointment but it didn't really matter once we get to see Baby. Baby was already taking human shape now. Baby was only 3 cm long but I was amazed how Baby can look like that already.

February 1, 2020 - 16W2D
Decided to delay the doctor's appointment for quite some time. We waited after the Chinese New Year, I didn't remember why we decided to do that. Baby's gender had been the talk of the family during CNY period, the whole family were placing a bet on it. Most people said it was a girl, W believed it was a girl. And... he was right LOL the doctor said he was 1000% sure already that it would be a baby girl. So, I guess we'll start referring Baby as a 'she' now :)

We didn't plan for this visit. But I had been catching some cold for a few days and the in-law's told me to get checked, just to be safe. Baby has gotten a lot bigger and the doctor said that all was good, so we decided to celebrate it by having a late steak dinner :))

March 23, 2020 - 23W1D
It was the beginning of the Corona season, so we decided to make a visit before things get worse. And as expected, the hospital was almost empty LOL that was the first time we didn't even need to queue at all. But as what the doctor always did, he never said much. Everything was fine, he said. But I guess that was a good thing? The doctor once told us that we should be grateful that we never spent too much time on the check-up since that means everything is going well with the baby. Guess we'll just listen to what he said LOL.

May 4, 2020 - 29W3D
Almost two months since the last visit, I missed seeing Baby. After looking at the photos, everyone was suddenly saying that Baby had a tall nose and she looked like her Papa. I really couldn't help but wonder how did people see that from such a picture? Actually even until now, I still have no idea about that. On the side notes, the doctor told us that baby was still on the breech (sungsang) position, so he did tell me to do some exercise to get the baby to the right position.

The exercise worked like a charm. Baby was already at the good position for birth, that was a good news. Baby had a tendency to cover her face with her hands every time we do the check-ups. But, I finally thought that Baby was really cute on the picture (I never once thought USG photos of babies were cute) since she was already looking like a 'real' sleeping baby, if that even makes sense. The doctor also told us that Baby got a lot of hair. Good for you, Baby!

Supposed to be my last check-up before the delivery. Baby gained 1 kg in just a month, I was shocked. She was already 3.1 kg at this time LOL. I used to hope that she won't get too big so I could have 'easier' delivery but that may not be the case anymore :)) Told myself I should control my appetite so that Baby won't be overweight by the time she was born. Well, I'll try my best. It was said that baby could come out any time soon, so we should be prepared for it.

By the time I was writing this, I was already 38W5D pregnant (guess when I was writing this hah!). Supposed to be not a long wait until we get to see Baby K. I was quite nervous but now I am more to be excited for getting to see her, the one that I have been carrying for almost 10 months.

It has been such a smooth journey on this pregnancy. Baby was behaving really well inside. I didn't really have much to complain, except on the second and third month where I threw up every night but it was fine since I wasn't working at night time, so I could do my dailies without any obstacles, I was really thankful for that.

I didn't really grow too big too, except on this last month of pregnancy where I felt hungry all the time (that's how Baby got so big in just a month LOL). But so far everything was pretty smooth, my nose and feet got swollen but it's not that bad at all.

I heard so many horror stories about pregnancy and how worrisome being pregnant is but thankfully mine has been a very pleasant journey. Now I just hoped that the next journey with the baby will be as joyful and I am also very thankful for these supportive people that I have behind me. They were probably the biggest reason why the pregnancy has been very enjoyable.

So, I guess I'll have to prepare myself for the next big thing: the delivery. I'm just hoping for the best for everything and maybe you, who are reading this, will pray for me too. See you on the next post with the baby, okay?
